Day 1: Individual arrival in Trier
Look forward to the oldest city in Germany and arrive in Trier early so that you can explore the Roman monuments and the historic city center extensively and feel the city's more than 2000 years of history.

Day 2: from Trier to Trittenheim
Length: approx. 40 km
Start the day in a relaxed manner and use the morning to explore the lively city before leaving Trier via the Moselle cycle path. Cycle via Mehring, where the ruins of the Villa Rustica await you - an impressive remnant from Roman times. You can end the day in an atmospheric way in your stage town of Trittenheim, with a rustic dinner or a cozy wine tasting.

Day 3: from Trittenheim to Zeltingen
Length: approx. 36 km
After just a few kilometers you reach Neumagen-Dhron, the oldest wine village in Germany. A special highlight here is the impressive relief of a Roman wine ship - a testimony to the region's long wine history. The route continues to Bernkastel-Kues, where colorful half-timbered houses and winding alleyways invite you to marvel and linger. From there, it is only a short way to your stage destination: the traditional wine village of Zeltingen-Rachtig, where we recommend taking a seat in the hotel restaurant in the evening and indulging in the fresh cuisine of the Zeltinger Hof (4-course WeinWand Dinner can be booked).

Day 4: Stay in Zeltingen
Surrounded by vineyards, the former Cistercian monastery of Machern is idyllically situated not far from Zeltingen. Enjoy a relaxed start to the day, visit the toy museum, the monastery brewery and indulge in culinary delights before cycling back to Zeltingen in the early afternoon. If you prefer to spend a day off the cycle paths in the vineyards, then switch from the saddle of your bike to the iconic VW vintage bus and enjoy a special kind of wine tour (can be booked as an option, min. 2 people).

Day 5: from Zeltingen to Zell
Length: approx. 35 km
Today's stage first takes you through the famous Kröver Nacktarsch wine-growing region to Traben-Trarbach. Like a natural amphitheater, the two districts are picturesquely nestled between steep vineyards and dense forests to the left and right of the Moselle. After this rewarding break, you cycle further along the Moselle to Enkirch, a true jewel of Moselle half-timbered architecture. Through the traditional Zeller Schwarze Katz wine-growing region, you finally reach the lively wine village of Zell, where the Moselle flair shows its sociable side.

Day 6: from Zell to Treis-Karden
Length: approx. 47 km 
Today your cycle stage takes you via Beilstein, the "Rothenburg on the Moselle", on to Treis-Karden. Beilstein enchants with its winding alleyways and idyllic corners - one of the most beautiful and romantic places along the Moselle. Take the opportunity to explore the picturesque village center and visit the imposing Metternich Castle high above the village. It really is worth a detour! You can then take it easy for the last 20 or so kilometers to your hotel in Treis-Karden. The best way to round off the day is with an enjoyable dinner in the Schlossstube of the Hotel Petry.

Day 7: Treis-Karden and Eltz Castle
Length: 20 km
Today you can take a trip to the medieval Eltz Castle (admission included), one of the most beautiful and best-preserved castles in Germany. Wonderfully romantic and embedded in unspoiled nature, it looks like a fairytale castle come true, inviting and majestic at the same time. Take part in an informative guided tour of the castle, discover the treasure chamber and enjoy the magnificent view before cycling back to Treis-Karden.

Day 7: Individual departure from Treis-Karden
Your beautiful cycle tour ends today after breakfast in Treis-Karden. For those who would like to return to Trier, we recommend our practical return transfer service, which will take you from the hotel back to the starting hotel with your luggage and private bikes.

Trier Main Market
Lively hustle and bustle fills the square, which offers a different perspective worth seeing from all sides - Porta Nigra to the north, cathedral to the east. Interesting for market-goers, medieval fans, but also flower lovers and wine connoisseurs. The Main market is a popular meeting place for tourists and locals alike - wineries from the region regularly present their fine wines.

Porta Nigra Trier
In the year 170n. Chr. the Romans laid the foundation stone for thePorta Nigra (Latin for Black Gate) was laid by the Romans. The former city gate is a must-see for every visitor to Trier and rightly a UNESCO World Heritage Site - discover it for yourself.

Trier Imperial Baths
The Imperial Baths in Trier are the remains of a large Roman bathing complex, which can still be visited today as impressive ruins.

Trier Amphitheater
The Amphitheater in Trier is an amphitheater from Roman times which, when completed around 100 AD, could seat 18,000 visitors.

Landshut Castle Bernkastel - Kues
Enjoy a magnificent view over Bernkastel-Kues and the valley of the Middle Moselle. The Landshut Castle is the town's landmark - take a 30-minute walk to the castle or take a relaxing ride up the mountain on the Burg-Landshut-Express.

The Bremmer Calmont
The Calmont is a ridge rising steeply above the Moselle between Ediger-Eller and Bremm and has the steepest single vineyard sites in the world with inclines of over 65°.

Cochem chairlift

Eltz Castle
The "most beautiful castle in Europe" is unique - it has survived all wars unscathed. The special highlight of Eltz Castle is its incomparable architecture: residential towers up to 35 meters high, a multitude of oriels, roofs and impressive half-timbering.

Cruising on the Moselle
From its source at the Col de Bussang in the Vosges to its mouth at the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz, the Moselle covers a total distance of 520 kilometers - the distance as the crow flies between the source and the mouth is only 278 kilometers - and overcomes a gradient of 676 meters in altitude.A boat trip on the Moselleis a relaxing way to shorten a longer day's stage and enjoy the beauty of the landscape from a different perspective.

Arrival by train
Trier is easy to reach by train from Koblenz and other cities. The best way to reach our partner hotels in Trier and the surrounding area from the train station is by taking a short cab ride or public transport. You can find up-to-date timetable information and prices atwww.bahn.de.

Parking facilities at your destination
Our partner hotels in Trier offer good, chargeable parking facilities for the entire duration of your cycle tour. There are always sufficient parking spaces available, advance reservation is not absolutely necessary.
You will receive detailed information about the parking facilities at the hotel you have booked with the detailed travel documents two weeks before the start of your trip.

Condition of the cycle paths
The quality of the Moselle cycle path is excellent. There are practically no unpaved or poorly passable sections. The route runs almost exclusively on asphalted paths and is uniformly signposted from Trier to Koblenz. The traffic load along the Moselle varies, but between Trier and Cochem there is almost always a separate cycle path on the right or left side of the Moselle, away from the main road. Only on the last day of cycling is there a section on a wide cycle lane next to the main road.

Return transfer to the starting point of the tour
It is possible to return to Trier by minibus (with bicycle transport trailer) between 09:00 and 10:00 (arrival there approx. 11:00). The driver comes to your hotel and has space for you, your luggage and, if necessary, your private bike. He will drive you back to your starting hotel and thus ensure a perfect return service without annoying changes or lugging suitcases. It is possible to bring your own bikes for an additional charge.

Train and bus in the Moselle valley
There is not always a train line running directly through the Moselle valley. After Trier, the train leaves the Moselle valley and the next train station is in Ürzig (near Zeltingen). From Bullay you have a train connection to Reil and Traben-Trabach. Shortly after Bullay, the railroad line disappears again in the Kaiser Wilhelm Tunnel and only reappears in Cochem. From Cochem, the railroad then runs completely through the Moselle valley to Koblenz. From spring to fall, cycle buses with a maximum capacity of 22 bicycles run daily between Trier and Traben-Trarbach. Boat trips on the Moselle
From April to October, numerous passenger boats operate on the Moselle in both directions. There are landing stages in almost all towns. Round trips are often offered. Information on the exact departure times can be found on the local notice boards of the shipping companies.

The approx. 2-hour trip in a VW vintage bus takes you through the vineyards of the impressive Middle Moselle - bookable for a minimum of 2 people, in the morning or afternoon. During the tour you will make several stops, learn interesting facts about the wine and cultural landscape and taste wines from the respective vineyards.

Extra costs that are not included in the tour price
A possible tourist tax and charging fees for bike batteries are not included in the tour price and must therefore be paid at the hotel.
