Institutions and contacts in Bernkastel-Kues

Today's town hall façade is a magnificent work of the German late Renaissance by the Trier sculptor R.H. Hoffmann (built in 1608). Hoffmann's patron and sponsor was the then Archbishop Lothar von Metternich (1599 - 1623), whose coat of arms and the Electorate of Trier's cross adorn the town hall oriel alongside the Bernkastel coat of arms. The oriel rests on a basalt column and bears a stone figure of the Salvator mundi, the Savior of the World, with the globe on the baroque curved roof. On the left corner pillar of the façade on the first floor is still the pillory where offenders were handcuffed and chained to the public pillar of shame.

Urban development on the Moselle. Together, we want to improve Bernkastel-Kues' location conditions in order to maintain and expand the town as a high-quality residential, business and tourism location. In doing so, we rely on dialog with municipal stakeholders and cooperation partners from business, culture and politics. We attach particular importance to the opinions of the town's residents!

The purpose of the association is the promotion of art and culture, as well as the promotion of ecclesiastical purposes. The statutory purposes are realized through the promotion of the cultural work of the parish of St. Michael, in particular through publications, events, concerts and exhibitions, the promotion of understanding between church, art and society in the horizon of cultural education and faith on the broadest level and the education and information, enlightenment, events and the caretakers of St. Michael.

The town of Bernkastel-Kues and the municipalities of Piesport, Zeltingen-Rachtig, Neumagen-Dhron and Brauneberg levy a tourism tax. You can view the statutes in a bundle.
