What makes this choir exceptional is that it enriches early medieval Gregorian chants with pop songs, breathing new life into them and offering fresh interpretations. “The Gregorian Voices” impressively arrange famous pop classics in the Gregorian style.
Even with this daring experiment, they elicit overwhelming reactions from the audience: “intense, stirring, outstanding, or astonishing” are exclamations frequently heard.
Hearing Rod Stewart’s “I’m Sailing” in a sacred arrangement is an emotional experience. “Imagine,” a well-known song by John Lennon, also consistently earns thunderous applause, as does “Ameno” by ERA.
