Wintrich is located in the natural and cultural landscape of the Moselle. Celts, Romans and Franks settled in the area of today's vacation resort. Wintrich was first mentioned in a document in 960. The name means "winegrowers' village", and rightly so, as winegrowing has always played a major role in the village surrounded by rolling vineyards. You can stop off at one of the traditional wineries and enjoy the wine from famous vineyards such as gem Großer Hergott.
Active nature vacation
Do you enjoy cycling and love hiking? In Wintrich you will find opportunities for both. The hiking trails are varied and offer great views and the Moselle cycle path nestles along the numerous meanders of the river. If you prefer something a little more sporty, simply explore the Hunsrück region, the low mountain range bordering the Moselle, by bike.
Events and passion
Many events in Wintrich revolve - naturally - around the theme of wine. Open wine cellar days, wine festivals and farm festivals entertain you from May to October. The Wintrich Passion Play is something special - also because it only takes place every 5 years. The majority of the actors are Wintrich residents and the Passion Plays, which are performed over several weeks, are always well attended.
Have you heard
in 1968, a large crucifix was installed in the vineyards on the "Geyerskopf", which has been THE landmark of Wintrich ever since.
