Cheese & Wine - A Special Tasting Experience
A wine tasting with cheese by the Moselle, where you will experience Moselle wines and regional farm cheeses in a whole new way: This is our cheese-wine tasting at the Birnfeld winery on the Middle Moselle. The wines from our winery highlight the aromas of the farm cheeses in their own unique way, and conversely, the cheeses alter the taste of the wines. It is precisely this interplay that makes the combination so exciting and presents both products in a whole new light.
Your evening begins with a welcome drink and a small canapé. After that, you will enjoy eight cheeses and eight wines, which you will taste as pairings. The focus is on enjoyment. You will discover how a cheese transforms a wine and vice versa, and experience flavor in a way that goes beyond the classic wine tasting or mere cheese eating.
The evening is guided by master winemaker Jan Birnfeld and cheese sommelier Wolfgang Fusenig. Both accompany you in a relaxed manner, allowing plenty of room for casual conversations. Right at the winery, you will learn how Moselle wines are created, what is important during the grape harvest, and what makes each vintage special. The cheese sommelier will explain the different types of cheeses, their production, and what to look for in cheese tasting.
In the cozy-modern atmosphere of the Vinothek at Birnfeld winery, the tasting becomes a sociable evening that you will fondly remember. The cheese-wine tasting is suitable for couples, friends, colleagues, and anyone who wants to discover Moselle wine and farm cheese in a whole new way.

By Car
Directly across the street from our wine shop, there are paid parking spaces available. At the machine on-site, you can obtain a free parking ticket for one hour. After 7 p.m., you can park there free of charge.
By Bus:
In the immediate vicinity, there are two bus stops, each about 200 meters walking distance from our wine shop Weingut Birnfeld:
- Stop Ortsmitte Lieser
- Stop Alter Bahnhof
Both stops are served by line 340 of the Verkehrsverbund Region Trier (VRT).
Line 340 connects, among others, Wittlich, Platten, Osann, Noviand, Maring, Lieser (train station and Ortsmitte), Kues, Bernkastel, Monzelfeld, Gonzerath, Wenigerath, and Morbach. It usually runs hourly until around 11:30 p.m. Lieser is thus very well connected to Bernkastel-Kues, one of the most popular places along the Middle Moselle.

Groups of 15 or more can also inquire about this experience on a custom desired date. Just write to us, and we will work together to make your very own cheese-wine tasting a reality.
Please note that the experience only takes place with a minimum number of 15 participants.
The organizer reserves the right to cancel the experience on short notice if the minimum number of participants is not reached.
If the minimum number of participants is not reached, we will contact you in a timely manner to discuss possible alternatives.
Cancellation is possible free of charge up to 7 days before the event date.
In case of cancellation from 7 days before the event date, 100% cancellation fees apply.
After your booking, you will receive a booking confirmation by email with the exact payment information.
