The wine village of Lieser lies in the middle of the largest contiguous wine-growing region on the Moselle. The "Mosel-Maare-Radweg" runs through here, just one reason why Lieser is ideal for cycling and hiking. With 1,300 inhabitants and a wine-growing area of over 180 hectares, Lieser is one of the largest picturesque wine villages on the Moselle. It can proudly look back on two thousand years of winegrowing tradition.
Lieser Castle and post station
In fact, there used to be a Thurn und Taxis post station here on the route from Vienna to Brussels, as evidenced by the old post office yard near the riverside road. Narrow alleyways, half-timbered houses and town houses adorned with flowers, rustic wine cellars, the local history museum, the proud St. Peter's Church built on rock with its ornate Baroque interior, the fairytale-like "Lieser Castle" of Barons von Schorlemer, small chapels and wayside crosses and, last but not least, St. Paul's Church on the 270m high Paulsberg take visitors back to times long forgotten and make a stay in Lieser an unforgettable experience.
Lieser is the ideal starting point for many activities. Whether varied cycling and hiking tours, farm festivals at the wineries and much more ... The range of possibilities is huge.

A post horn can be seen in the coat of arms of Lieser (next to a key and vine). The post horn stands for the old post office in Lieser, which was used as a post station in the 16th and 17th centuries.
