Mosel Cycle Path Section 5: From Piesport to Bernkastel-Kues

Travelling from one wine-making village to the next, you will reach charming Bernkastel-Kues with its castle Landshut.
This section leads along the right bank of the Moselle from the wine-making village of Piesport to historic Bernkastel-Kues. The 18.5 kilometre-long cycle tour starts with a view of the “Moselloreley”, a rock massif which rises almost vertically from the banks of the Moselle. Down river, vineyards, orchards and picturesque wine-producing villages such as Wintrich, Brauneberg and Mülheim lead to the cultural highlight of this leg of the tour. The famous Moselle town of Bernkastel-Kues has much to offer and a longer stay is therefore worthwhile. Rich in history and culture, the picturesque old town, which has one of the most beautiful backdrops of half-timbered houses to be found in Germany, awaits discovery. The medieval town is dominated by the majestic Landshut Castle, the birthplace of Nikolaus Cusanus is open to visitors and the Moselle Wine Museum offers a fascinating insight into the world of Moselle wine.
