Total distance: approx. 200 kilometers

Level of difficulty: easy

Day 1: Individual arrival in Trier
You should plan enough time to visit the historic city center, the Imperial Baths and the Porta Nigra. During a guided tour of the city, you can get a sense of the fascinating Middle Ages with the Dreikönigenhaus, Judengasse and Hauptmarkt. The Cathedral Courtyard and Electoral Palace showcase the baroque splendor of modern times.

Day 2: from Trier to Mehring
Length: approx. 23 km, difficulty: easy
You leave Germany's oldest city on the Moselle cycle path and cycle leisurely past the old ferry tower from Schweich to Mehring. Here you can marvel at the ruins of the Villa Rustica, a country house or estate from the Roman Empire. Today, the reconstructed buildings and foundation walls can be visited again. The remains of a multicolored floor mosaic and wall cladding made of black marble still bear witness to the magnificent interior. Look forward to the small wine village of Mehring with its lovingly designed narrow streets in the town center, the so-called Moselgassen, which invite you to take a stroll. Vine-covered gates open up the winegrowers' courtyards and provide an insight into Moselle hospitality. Feel free to pop in, the winegrowers will be happy to have a chat and a glass of wine with you.

Day 3: from Mehring to Piesport
Length: approx. 24 km, difficulty: easy
Today the Moselle cycle path takes you to Trittenheim. Here you can taste the famous Trittenheimer Altärchen wine on the spot. In Neumagen-Dhron, the oldest wine village in Germany, marvel at the world-famous Roman wine ship (replica) and just before Piesport, directly on the cycle path, at the Roman wine press. In Piesport, the promenades along the banks of the Moselle invite you to take a stroll, and cafés, wine taverns and wine taverns invite you to take a break. Convince yourself of the good quality of the Piesport Goldtröpfchen.

Day 4: from Piesport to Zeltingen
Length: approx. 25 km, difficulty: easy
Look forward to a leisurely break and enjoy Bernkastel-Kues. Stroll across the beautiful market square, past proud half-timbered houses and amazing fountains, visit the birthplace of Nikolaus von Kues and discover the wine museum. Here you will learn about wine growing on steep slopes, about the different grape varieties, about all the work in the vineyard and cellar, about wine storage and, of course, about wine culture. After this worthwhile break, you continue on the cycle path along the banks of the Moselle to Zeltingen. With around 171 hectares of vineyards and the world-famous Zeltinger Himmelreich, Schlossberg, Sonnenuhr and Deutschherrenberg vineyards, the town is one of the largest and best-known wine-growing communities on the Middle Moselle.

Day 5: from Zeltingen to Bullay
Length: approx. 40 km, difficulty: easy
You cycle through the Kröver Nacktarsch wine-growing region to Traben-Trarbach. Like a vine-covered amphitheater, the forest and vineyards nestle around the twin towns to the left and right of the Moselle. Enjoy the unique charm and flair of the town, delight in the fascinating architecture with architectural treasures from the Art Nouveau and Belle Epoque periods or complement your cycling vacation with a beautiful boat trip on the Moselle. After this worthwhile break, follow the flat cycle paths to the right and left of the Moselle to Enkirch, a gem of Moselle half-timbered architecture, and continue through the "Zeller Schwarze Katz" wine-growing region to Bullay. Marvel at the bridge connecting Bullay with Alf, which is still unique in Germany. It crosses the Moselle as a steel structure with two levels, one above for rail traffic and one below for road traffic.

Day 6: from Bullay to Cochem
Length: approx. 31 km, difficulty: easy
Look forward to the small but wildly romantic town of Beilstein with only 160 inhabitants. Many visitors to the Moselle consider it to be the most beautiful and romantic place on the Moselle, which is also reflected in its nickname "Rothenburg an der Mosel". On a tour through the narrow alleyways and corners of Beilstein, it quickly becomes clear why the town has already served as a film set for numerous movies. Stroll through the alleyways of the old town and marvel at the picturesque market square dating back to 1322 with the former tithe house, visit the former parish church of St. Christophorus and the old prince-grave's cellar. Afterwards, you cycle along the Moselle cycle path to Cochem.

Day 7: from Cochem to Kobern-Gondorf
Length: approx. 32 km, difficulty: easy
In the morning, take a detour (4 km) to the medieval Eltz Castle, one of the most beautiful and best-preserved castles in Germany. Wonderfully romantic and embedded in unspoiled nature, it looks like a fairytale castle come true, inviting and majestic at the same time. Take part in an informative guided tour of the castle, discover the treasure chamber and enjoy the magnificent view. Then cycle back to the Moselle cycle path and cycle to the historic wine village of Kobern Gondorf. Visit the ancestral castle of the Princes von der Leyen with its interesting wine museum, the medieval market square with the Tatzelwurm fountain and the oldest half-timbered house in Germany.

Day 8: from Kobern Gondorf to Koblenz
Length: approx. 19 km, difficulty: easy
On the last few kilometers of the Moselle cycle path, you will discover the wine village of Winningen, one of the most beautiful villages in Germany. See for yourself. Stroll through the vine-covered alleyways, breathe in the scent of wine and meet the friendly people who make this place so endearing. You can then quickly cycle to the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz. Here you can enjoy the magnificent view of the Rhine Valley and the last evening of your cycle tour.

The traffic load along the Moselle varies, but between Trier and Cochem there is almost always a separate cycle path on the right or left side of the Moselle, away from the main road. Only on the last day of cycling is there a section on a wide cycle lane next to the main road.
