Memorial plaque for Dr. Victor Nikolaus Kronser unveiled
A memorial plaque for the doctor Dr. Victor Nikolaus Kronser, who is known far beyond the borders of Germany, was unveiled at Nikolausuferstraße 52. The physician, spa doctor, poet, philosopher, and humanist was born in 1809 in the then rural community of Cues and passed away 1886 in Bernkastel-Kues, where he was also buried in the cemetery.
Dr. Kronser spent a large part of his life in today's partner city Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad) in the Czech Republic, where he worked from 1859 to 1885. There, he dedicated himself intensively to medical research and spa operations, authored several significant writings, and made substantial contributions to the development of the spa industry. With the memorial plaque, the city of Bernkastel-Kues and its partner city Karlovy Vary honor a man who has notably contributed to the dialogue and cultural exchange between European nations through his work.
During a small memorial ceremony, Mayor Roman Bastgen, his predecessor Wolfgang Port, members of the city council, and a delegation from Karlovy Vary remembered the life and work of the distinguished doctor.
