Attractions such as torch swimming and fireworks, the extraordinary largest Advent calendar in the region, active events like the St. Nicholas hike, and delightful treats like the distinctive Riesling mulled wine – all of this can be found at the Christmas market in Bernkastel-Kues. More than 40 festively decorated Christmas stalls are spread throughout the medieval old town of Bernkastel. Everything from traditional handicrafts, jewelry, and candles to nostalgic knickknacks is available. The culinary offerings also leave nothing to be desired: whether tarte flambée, stews, waffles, crêpes, or mulled wine.

The torch swimming through the icy Moselle has been a highlight for years. Over 100 sport divers accompany St. Nicholas on his journey from Kues harbor to the Bernkastel Moselle shore. After arriving safely at the Moselle shore, St. Nicholas distributes gifts to the little visitors.
