Moselle village with famous wines and unique bridge

The district of Wehlen, called Wenelon, Walene or Wellen in the Middle Ages, is probably of Celtic origin. THE figurehead is the wine "Wehlener Sonnenuhr". The steep vineyard site is the origin of one of the most elegant white wines.
The wine can be tasted in many renowned wineries. The quiet location of the village is ideal for a relaxing vacation for people who want to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Vineyard and sundial
The famous vineyard location is the inspiration for the many sundials in Wehlen, the "place of 100 sundials". The nature reserve "Streuobstwiesen" on the Wehlen plateau is ideal for a nature vacation on the Moselle. In spring, it delights the eye and nose with a wide variety of flowers and scents, in summer and fall with a rich selection of fruit varieties. Beautiful half-timbered houses such as the Kerpen'sche Haus, built in 1614, richly decorated, finely structured and well preserved, are among the attractions of a stroll through Wehlen. The only suspension bridge on the Moselle can be found in Wehlen. It was opened to traffic in 1949 and is a real eye-catcher!

The number 7 is missing from the Wehlen sundial, which can be found in the vineyard of the same name, because the sundial is in the shade at 7 o'clock in the morning and in the evening. The number would therefore never be displayed anyway.
