Historical Highlights from the Moselle Valley - Special Exhibition at the Machern Monastery
Guided tours on the individual topics of the exhibition on five dates, each Sunday:
August 23, September 20, September 27, October 4 & October 18, 2026, – starting at 3:00 p.m.
Castsles and palaces - what did they look like at the turn of the century
- The Moselle in art - artists and photographers discover the Moselle
- Summer freshness on the Moselle - advertising for the region, examples from 1913
- Wine and historical maps - the role and development of viticulture since 1900 and an insight into the tools. When, for example, was a cask of wine rolled from Bernkastel to Berlin?
- The Moselle Valley Railway in text and image - not just a "drunken train" but support for the development of the region. Both residents and visitors rediscover old village and building views that are worth looking for again today. A glance into the past sharpens the awareness for the present and encourages thoughts about the future.
The exhibition invites repeated viewings.
The entrance ticket – personalized – is valid for the exhibition on three consecutive days.
The exhibition can be seen within the opening hours of the Historical Toy and Icon Museum. In addition to the special exhibition, over 3000 historical toys from the turn of the century and over 220 icons from Russia, Ethiopia, and the Balkans are displayed. The museum is accessible by elevator and has no steps.
