Doctor Wine Tour

A popular legend in the Moselle town states that in the 14th century, the Elector Boemund II of Trier fell severely ill with a fever during his stay at Landshut Castle. No medication helped, and none of his famous doctors knew what to do.
With a small cask of his best wine, an old winemaker came to the Elector and explained that this wine was the best medicine. After consuming it, the Elector was healed. As a sign that this wine was "the true doctor," the vineyard was awarded the prestigious title of being allowed to call itself "Berncasteler Doctor" by the Elector.

In the Footsteps of a Legend
Thus, the "Bernkasteler Doctor" came by its name. This is a brief summary of the legend surrounding the “Bernkasteler Doctor.” This legend inspired us to create a special kind of tour: the “City Tour with the Bernkasteler Doctor.” The 90-minute tour through the old town of Bernkastel includes – Nomen est omen - 2 glasses of Doctor wine.
