Two millennia of history on the Moselle also means 2000 years of wine culture. You can vividly experience the beginnings of this culture in Neumagen-Dhron. This is also thanks to the Romans, who cultivated wine on the Moselle. The Roman influence is impressively demonstrated by the "Stella Noviomagi", a faithful replica of a Roman wine ship, on which visitors can take a trip along the Moselle. There is also an archaeological trail that leads past many Roman monuments. And, of course, the wine that grows in the vineyards that nestle against the village.
Hiking and cycling
Neumagen-Dhron has much more to offer: Hiking on the famous Moselsteig trail or the circular trails around the village. The hiking trails along the Große and Kleine Dhron - two clear mountain streams that have their source in the Hunsrück - are particularly beautiful. They join at Papiermühle, a small district of Neumagen-Dhron, and cover the last few kilometers to the Moselle together.
The Moselle cycle path is the first choice for cyclists. It winds directly along the river and leads past green vineyards, impressive rock formations and numerous villages. For motor sports enthusiasts, the marina offers an anchorage and for camping enthusiasts and motorhome owners, there are pitches on the banks of the Moselle and on the Dhron, while gliders and hang-gliders can take off and land on the Moselle heights.
Food and drink
If you are looking for more passive enjoyment or want to relax after hiking and cycling tours and enjoy a nice meal and drink, you can do so in romantic wine taverns, cozy cafés and restaurants to your heart's content.
Did you know
The archaeological circular trail in the middle of the village reveals the course of the town, as do the still visible remains of the walls of the late antique fort. The reliefs discovered in Neumagen have earned the municipality the title of "Rhenish Pergamon".
