The wine village of Erden is ideal for a hiking vacation thanks to the climbing trail of the same name. This is one of the most beautiful in the vacation region thanks to the magnificent view of the Moselle. "In the beginning, God created heaven and earth..." This sentence from the Bible is often quoted in the wine village of Erden to illustrate the age, but also the historical advantages of the vacation resort. Wine-growing, which came to Erden with the Romans due to its privileged location, has remained the main source of income for the inhabitants to this day.
Roman heritage to visit
Winding Moselle alleyways, half-timbered houses, romantic courtyards and imposing natural stone buildings as well as historical treasures (e.g. the church windows of St. Anna) are local treasures to be discovered. In 1992, a Roman wine press was uncovered in the famous "Erdener Treppchen" vineyard. The over 4 m high masonry in a well-preserved herringbone pattern of slate stones is unique. A second facility was discovered in 1998. It is the oldest known site of its kind and dates back to the 2nd century. Erden also offers almost alpine hiking fun: thanks to the "Erdener Treppchen" climbing trail, which runs high above the rocks of the Moselle.

Two ancient wine presses were found opposite Erden. One of which is the oldest wine press house in Germany!
