Mosel-Radtour zum Herz des Kirchspiels

37 km long round tour through the "Kirchspiel Kleinich". In addition to beautiful views of the Hunsrück, the archaeology park Belginum is one of the places of interest.

Insights into the cycle tour:

On a circular cycle path of approx. 37 km you can discover the most beautiful spots of the "Kirchspiel Kleinich", which consists of eight different villages, including unique and fascinating views. Each village offers interesting sights such as the archaeology park Belginum (highest point of the route), the culture barn in Oberkleinich or various chapels. The cycle path leads through forests and open paths, over field paths as well as asphalt farm tracks. You will encounter formative highlights of nature such as the Halster pond, the 220-year-old oak or ancient lime trees and mighty walnut trees. Another highlight are the magnificent views of the Hunsrück-Eifel landscape, including three Hunsrück peaks, Haardtkopf (658 m), Erbeskopf (818 m) and Idarkopf (746 m). Cycling enthusiasts can find strengths in various inns in the individual districts of Kleinich.

Directions
The starting point of the cycle path is directly at the Raiffeisenbank in Kleinich. The Protestant parish church, newly built in 1790, is in the immediate vicinity. You first start uphill from the village and turn left in front of the transformer in the direction of the development area. Pass the building area and turn left onto the "Schulweg" to Oberkleinich (visit to the culture barn possible by appointment). In Oberkleinich, turn right, leaving the pretty chapel behind you on the left, and continue on the district road towards Hunsrückhöhenstraße. Once in the forest area, turn right onto a narrow path into the "Hochgerichtsheide", to the so-called Poststraße (gravelled). After about 1.5 km you reach the refuge. Here you can take a detour to the left to the Halsterweiher, a biotope at 601 m above sea level. A few metres further on, you can turn right off the cycle path and refresh yourself at the spring water of the old Götzerother water supply (Wilhelmsbrunnen).Continue along the Poststraße in the direction of Wederath and after about 3 km you will reach the Belginum Archaeological Park, the highest point of the route (570 m above sea level). There you can gain insights into the Celtic past of this region. The signs lead you downhill along the K 106 (and after 300 m turn right along a farm track) to Wederath, which belongs to the municipality of Morbach. At the end of the village, you join the K 106 again and cycle uphill to Ilsbach, the smallest village in the multi-village municipality of Kleinich. In Ilsbach, turn right at the village lime tree to reach the windmill built in 1998. From there you continue to Götzeroth. Ancient lime trees and mighty walnut trees characterise the village. Turning left in the village, you zigzag northwest through fields and meadows on an asphalted farm track to Pilmeroth (please take care when crossing the K 103).After a round trip through Pilmeroth, you come across the district road to Emmeroth, a village with picturesque farmhouses. In Emmeroth you cycle on to Fronhofen. Here, the village street paved with natural basalt stones and a chapel worth seeing await you. At the former school, cycle left and then straight ahead into the Fronhofen field. On an asphalted circular path about 6 km long, you can be fascinated by wonderful views of the Hunsrück-Eifel landscape. From the plateau of the 220-year-old oak tree, you can make out three Hunsrück peaks on a clear day: Haardtkopf 658 m, Erbeskopf 818 m and Idarkopf 746 m.Back in Fronhofen, continue left along the district road to the eighth district of the municipality of Thalkleinich. You reach this district via a field path that branches off to the valley side at the height of the Idarhof. In Thalkleinich, stay on the main road and pass the beautiful village fountain on the right. Now you have to take the ascending K 106 in the direction of the Hunsrückhöhenstraße (B 327). After about 800 metres, you will reach Oberkleinich for the second time, turning right along an initially sandy field path. Once in the village, it is only a stone's throw downhill along the district road to finish the tour in a few minutes at the starting point in Kleinich.
