Directions

From Bernkastel the tour takes you over the Moselle bridge and roundabout to the Kues district. In Kues and Alt-Kues you will drive slightly uphill through Weingartenstraße with its many wineries and Straußwirtschaften to the outskirts of the town. From here, after a hairpin bend, the path leads you steadily uphill through the Kues vineyards up to the Fierskapelle chapel. Behind the Fierskapelle chapel you turn left and now you drive steadily along the edge between vineyards and forest with a constantly excellent view around the Kueser plateau. Above Lieser, the tour turns away from the Moselle valley and continues along the edge of the Kueser plateau, following the old original valley of the Moselle. Finally you leave the vineyards and turn right into the forest to the Trinity. From the Dreifaltigkeit you continue over the Grainskopf, slightly downhill through the Wehlener Wald until you reach open terrain again after crossing the B50.Over the area of the planned Zeltingen holiday village you continue to ascend until you have an unobstructed view of the Moselle at the top. Continue on, again on the edge between the vineyard and the edge of the forest, above the Macherns monastery with an excellent view of the Moselle valley in the direction of Ürzig. Soon you can see the take-off point of the paragliders on the left side of the slope. At the level of the Hochmosel crossing you change direction and go downhill now up the Moselle to the Machern monastery. The brewery of the Machern Monastery invites you to take a break or to visit the museum. Then you cross the Moselle again and Zeltingen is reached. Through the vineyards of Zeltingen you drive steadily uphill again to the abutment of the Hochmosel crossing on the Hunsrück side. Along the upper edge of the Zeltingen plateau, the tour takes you further up the Moselle with a constantly fantastic view of the river. After a short detour to the plateau, past the Zeltinger barbecue huts, you continue along the edge of the slope between vineyards and woods towards Bernkastel. In the valley you can see the barrage and the villages of Wehlen and Graach.Shortly before the Graach sheep farm, you leave the Moselle valley and drive onto the plateau. In a short loop over the plateau you can enjoy the excellent view of the Eifel and Hunsrück. But you can also leave this bumpy loop out and continue directly on the well-developed farm track of the B50n to the "Waldschenke mit Herz".Via the "Waldschenke mit Herz" you will reach the vantage point "Maria Zill". From here you will have another great view of the Moselle valley and Bernkastel-Kues. Now you go - quite steep at the end - on a single trail back down to Bernkastel.
