Directions
The start is at the Monzel community centre. First you continue along Brunnenstraße until you reach the crossing with Hüttenkopfstraße. There you turn left towards meadows and forest. Through orchards you continue parallel to the edge of the forest. You enter the forest and follow forest paths up to the Monzeler Hüttenkopf. Below the second highest elevation of all the Moselle mountains (423.4 m above sea level) you pass a large clearing, which offers views of the district town of Wittlich and the Wittlicher Senke. The summit itself, however, is forested. Downhill you follow an old cattle drive above an abandoned quarry. Over tree roots this narrow path leads you downhill and crosses a forest path. Then you walk over a meadow orchard into the vineyards, where a beautiful view of the Moselle valley opens up. You descend through the vineyards to the outskirts of Monzel and then make a small detour to an island of peace above the village church of St. Nicholas.Public transit

Getting there
Coming from Bernkastel over the bridge to Kues. Then follow the L47 towards Trier until after Lieser. Turn right there to stay on the L47 and follow the road to Osann-Monzel.
