Directions
The Bernkastel Wine Experience Trail "Lizard loves Riesling" starts at the Graacher Tor, the only remaining gate of the former city fortifications. The "ribbon of history" with important key data on the history of the town and viticulture accompanies you on the first ascent to the small St. Josefs chapel. Past the chapel on the left, the nature trail leads you to the first adventure station. If you like, you can also take a first rest here. A flat path follows parallel to the slope. Then you ascend along a small watercourse to the higher situated farm track (Station 2 and 3), turn right at the fountain and crossroads to Station 4, which informs about different types of reeducation. Now you continue uphill in hairpin bends. You pass 2 further stations (5 and 6) of the nature trail and leave the path at an arch, which spans the vineyard path as a climbing aid. This is because an excursion over hill and dale into a vineyard, which was not included in the land consolidation, follows and provides information about the biodiversity in this habitat (Station 7). After this difficult passage, you continue on farm tracks, along the habitat aids (Station 8) to the viewing platform (Station 9), where the apex of the nature trail is reached. Here at the latest, a camera or mobile phone will be used. On the descent, the path leads you past the "Bernkastler Doctor" (Station 10), the most expensive vineyard in the world.
