Schmitz-Bergweiler wine estate and guesthouse in the old town of Bernkastel-Kues on the Moselle River is a family business run in the 5th generation. The focus is on Riesling vines, the "queen" of white wines, which are partially more than 50 years old.
The vineyards are located at well-known sites such as “Bernkasteler Badstube”, “Bernkasteler Graben”, “Ürziger Weingarten” and “Erdener Treppchen”. These are all steep slope vineyards, where the vines are grown and taken care of in laborious manual work. After the harvest, good wines and sparkling wines are produced in accordance with traditional techniques.
In the modern wine shop with its attached guesthouse - sited right at the center of the old town of Bernkastel - visitors and guests get the opportunity to enjoy the excellent wines of this prestigious winery. When the weather is good, you can also sit on the outdoor terrace in the midst of Bernkastel´s pedestrian zone. It is a popular place for wine lovers, who also like to try some specialties typical of the region.

In our wine shop, you can get to know our excellent wines from our own vineyard. In addition, we offer many other regional specialties from and around wine. In nice weather, our outdoor terrace with seating in the romantic pedestrian zone is a popular meeting point for wine lovers.
