Roman winepress Zeltingen-Rachtig
The Roman wine press site found in Zeltingen-Rachtig dates from the 3rd/ 4th century AD. The works in order to preserve the wine press site are funded by a private initiative with support of the community Zeltingen-Rachtig.
The wine press site was discovered in the course of ground works as part of land consolidation “Deutschherrenberg”. During excavation works 3 coins and several roof tiles were found by employees of rheinisches Landesmuseum Trier (state museum Trier), according to whom the must and mash basins are partly preserved and walls and screed are of good quality.
