City and panoramic railway
The panorama train passes numerous sights on its approx. 45 minute ride through Bernkastel-Kues and offers great views of the city.
On a ride with the panoramic train, you can expect beautiful views of Bernkastel-Kues and the Moselle, old half-timbered houses in the midst of a small beautiful town shaped by viticulture, and very many sights; moreover, you will learn something about the history and secrets of Bernkastel-Kues.
The following points are covered by the city & panoramic train:
- St. Nikolaus Hospital: A jewel of late medieval architecture, founded in 1457 by Nikolaus Cusanus, and the oldest still-operating hospice in Germany.
- Half-timbered houses: Artistic half-timbered houses, historic magnificent buildings - a town full of views and insights, discoveries and surprises.
- Market square: A romantic gem (16th/17th century) with a picturesque half-timbered ensemble, town hall, and Michael's fountain.
- St. Michael: A landmark of the city: the church tower originally built as a defensive tower around 1300.
- Cusanus Birthplace: Today a museum dedicated to the life of the great scholar and most famous son of the city, Nikolaus Cusanus (1401-1464).
- Fiers Chapel: A picturesque small chapel from the 17th century, amidst the vast green vineyard carpet.
- Panorama: The impressive panoramic view of the twin city shows the harmony of nature and culture.
The panoramic train starts opposite the Mosel Guest Center (Tourist Information), Gestade 6 Bernkastel.
