Dr. Loosen Winery

The Dr. Loosen winery is located in Bernkastel-Kues and is managed by Ernst Loosen. Tradition is a lived passion for him. His passion for Mosel Riesling fuels this traditional winery, which has been in family ownership for 200 years.

The Dr. Loosen winery is located in the heart of the Middle Moselle in Bernkastel-Kues and is run by Ernst Loosen, whose name is synonymous with great Rieslings worldwide. In family ownership for over 200 years, the winery combines long-standing tradition with a clear vision for the highest quality. For Ernst Loosen, tradition is not an obligation but a lived passion – and Riesling is his great love.
From the most renowned vineyards of the Moselle, including Erdener Prälat, Ürziger Würzgarten, and Wehlener Sonnenuhr, wines of exceptional elegance, finesse, and expression emerge. These classic Mosel Rieslings enchant with their finesse, mineral depth, and sensual balance.

Innovative wine concepts give the winery a distinctive signature: The dry Grosses Gewächs showcase the Moselle’s authentic, characterful side – fine, noble, and precise, with harmonious balance and moderate alcohol.
Ernst Loosen’s philosophy is clear: great wines are the authentic expression of soil, climate, and grape variety.

The foundation for this is a traditional management of the vineyards, consistent yield reduction, careful hand-picking, and gentle vinification in the cellar. Since 1993, the Dr. Loosen winery has been a member of the VDP – Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter.
Wine tastings are offered upon request for 1 to 40 people and can be conducted in both German and English.
From Monday to Thursday, from 8 persons on request, it is possible to enjoy a Moselle-style snack.
