Deutschherrenweg in Zeltingen-Rachtig at the Moselle

The almost 7 kilometre long round tour on the Zeltinger Berg can be hiked all year round. The Erdener and Lösnicher chapel are among the sights.

The Deutschherrenweg starts from Zeltingen-Rachtig, a wine village on the Moselle. It is an easy circular route through the forest and vineyards above the village. It leads past orchards and vineyards through the vineyards of Himmelreich, Schloßberg and Sonnenuhr, among others. There are only small gradients along the route. Prominently in view is the new Hochmoselbrücke B50 new.Insights into the hiking tour:Across the meadow at the Bartholomäushütte you reach a small path which leads to the uppermost vineyard path at the edge of the valley. Here a varied panorama awaits the hiker. The big white cross, the "Three Firs", the Hochmosel bridge, the scout's home of the "Deutschherrenstamms" and the Lösnich chapel are stations of this hike.There is no place to stop for refreshments along the route, but there is one "down below", on the Moselle in Zeltingen-Rachtig.

Across the meadow at the Bartholomaeus hut you will come to a small path which leads you to the uppermost vineyard path at the edge of the valley. Above the vineyards of Zeltingen-Rachtig you walk on and on. On the way you will see, among other things, the big white cross, "Three Firs", bridge piers of the Hochmosel bridge and the scout's home of the "Deutschherrenstamm". Here you hike down the hairpin bends, further between vineyards and meadows and then cross a bridge of the feeder road to the Hochmosel crossing (B50 new).Just after the bridge you do not enter the forest, but follow a path down to a small stream. The path continues past orchards, vineyards and meadows to the Lösnicher Chapel. From here you walk uphill. From the forest path a small path branches off to the right after a few metres in altitude. Follow this path over a small stream. Soon afterwards you continue on a forest path up to the Zeltinger Berg and over meadows and fields back to the starting point of the hike.

You will find parking facilities at the Bartholomäushütte on the Zeltinger Berg.

Tip

A detour to the Machern monastery on the opposite side of the Moselle. Here you will find a museum of dolls, toys and icons and a brewery. Wide paths on ashpalt and gravel. Good shoes are never wrong.

Hiking or trekking shoes, rucksack provisions (there are various possibilities in Zeltingen-Rachtig).
