For more than 450 years, the family of Andreas Wagner has operated a farming business in the Selztal near Mainz. Agriculture, viticulture, and animal husbandry shaped the lives of all previous generations. The hard work in the fields and vineyards secured the family's position in the village for centuries. In small anecdotes, the author tells of the agricultural innovations of the 19th century as well as of family catastrophes and the quest of each generation for the right partner for their children. He also addresses the situation of the Rheinhessen vintners in 1926 and their protest storm in Mainz, which pursued a very different aim beyond the economic situation.
Andreas Wagner recounts and reads from his book "Between Vines and Beets - A Story of Grapes, Wine, and Five Generations". He accompanies the reading with a small tasting from his winery.
