Nature and hiking enthusiasts
have many opportunities to relax and unwind in excellent climatic conditions. Apparently the Romans already appreciated this Hunsrück landscape, as they settled here and thus founded the almost 1,000-year history of "longus campus" (Latin for long field). Longkamp was first mentioned in a document in 1030, when Margravine Jutta of Lorraine donated her farms Bernkastel-Kues, Longkamp and Monzelfeld to the former St. Eucharius monastery near Trier.
