The fourth stage of the Mosel-Radweg path leads through wide Moselle loops - always along the right bank of the Moselle - from Mehring to the wine village of Piesport. The cyclist passes one of the most beautiful and well-known loops between Leiwen and Trittenheim before reaching Neumagen-Dhron, Germany's oldest wine village and the site of the Neumagen wine ship. The tomb of a Roman wine merchant can be visited as a duplicate in front of St. Peter's Chapel, while its floating replica is anchored in the specially built harbour. Shortly before Piesport, the faithfully restored wine press house bears witness to the central wine-growing importance of the village in Roman times. A short stopover at the largest Roman wine press north of the Alps is well worthwhile before the hospitable wineries invite you to stop for a break and taste the famous "Piesport Goldtröpfchen".
