The wine press was discovered during ground work as part of the land consolidation project "Deutschherrenberg". Employees of the Rhineland Regional Museum in Trier found 3 coins and some roof tiles during the excavation work. According to their information, the must and mash basins are partially preserved, the masonry and the screed are still of good quality. The work to secure the winepress is being carried out by private initiative with the support of the municipality of Zeltingen-Rachtig.
