Holidaymakers on a Moselle holiday will find the Philipps-Eckstein winery in Graach, more precisely in the Graacher Schäferei, high above the Moselle. The wine and resort town of Graach is about 2 kilometres from Bernkastel-Kues. Wine has been grown in the family since the 17th century. The Philipps-Eckstein winery itself has existed since 1968, in its present form since 1998. The size of the winery is 5 hectares, the vineyards are located in the Graach and Bernkastel districts. The soil and vine cultivation is mainly done by hand. The vineyards are located in the vineyards Graacher Himmelreich, Graacher Domprobst and Bernkasteler Johannisbrünnchen. In addition to Riesling, the grape varieties Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris are also cultivated. The focus is clearly on Riesling. The winery - a member of the Bernkasteler Ring - can boast numerous references and awards, including "Winemaker of the Year", honorary awards, state honorary awards, federal honorary awards and winning wines in various competitions. The renowned wine guide Gault-Millau lists them as an up-and-comer in 2021 with 3 red grapes, the Vinum Weinguide 2022 with 2.5 stars and the "Feinschmecker" with 3 "F".
