There is a lot to see in Bernkastel-Kues. If you only have one day, these are the things you need to see and do.
During the season (May to October) you have the choice between one-hour round trips or longer tours. The departure point is below the Moselle Guest Centre (Tourist Information) on the banks of the Moselle. Further information on timetables and departure times can be found here.
There is a wide range of different city and theme tours. The guided tour through the town is offered all year round on Thursdays and Saturdays at 14:30. Meeting point is the Karlsbader Platz (directly behind the Moselle Guest Center).
The castle can be reached on foot in about 20 minutes. From the market place in Bernkastel you walk left, past the "Spitzhäuschen" and walk up the Karlstraße. From there, turn left and walk through the vineyards over steps up to the ruins of Landshut Castle. Our tip: The city walk "Burgberg-Rundweg" - on this path you reach the castle in about 1 hour. Another option is the city walk "Familien-Rundweg" it takes in total about 1,5 hours and is suitable for prams.
Alternatively, during the season (April to October) daily round trips with the "Burg Landshut Express" are offered. Departure is every hour on the hour, from 11 am to 5 pm. Start is at the Gestade in Bernkastel, directly in front of the building of the association municipality.
During the season (Easter, May to October) the Panorama cable car runs every hour from 11 am to 5 pm (except 1 pm) from Monday to Sunday. It starts opposite the Moselle Guest Centre (Tourist Information) and runs through the old town and the vineyards. Further information about the route and prices can be found here.
There is a wide range of day trips with the Feuerer Bustouristik company. During the season trips to Tier, Koblenz, Luxembourg and Paris are offered. More information about trips and prices can be found here.

The Maare-Mosel cycle path runs on a former railway line between the Vulkaneifel and the Moselle. It is recommended that you first take the RegioRadler bus from Bernkastel-Kues to Daun. From there you cycle back to the Moselle. Especially in the high season, it is advisable to make an online reservation for the bus. The bus runs between 1 April and 1 November. Online reservations for bicycle transportation on the RegioRadler Bus are made at www.regioradler.de. We can also make the reservation for you at the Moselle Guest Center when you are on site. Please note that online reservations are only possible up to 4 hours before departure.
You can park your bikes at the designated facilities at the parking place (near the advertising pillar). There is also a bicycle cellar directly at the Moselle Guest Center (Tourist Information). The bicycle cellar is open from April to the end of October at the following times: Monday - Friday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., from April 4, additionally Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Exception: the cellar is not available during the "Weinfest der Mittelmosel")

A parking ticket can be purchased from a machine. Alternatively, you can buy a 3-day ticket for 5€ or a monthly ticket for 10€ at the Mosel-Gäste-Zentrum (Tourist-Information) (status February 2020). The chargeable time is from 01.04. to 31.12. If Easter is before 01. April, the chargeable time is from Good Friday.
The historic old town with its market square, half-timbered houses and St. Michael's fountain is located in the Bernkastel district. Walk from the Moselle Guest Centre (Tourist Information) to the bridge, then turn left into the town and you will come directly to the market square.
All buses leave from the "Forum" bus stop in the Kues district. To get there, walk from the Moselle Guest Centre (Tourist Information) to the bridge, then turn right over the bridge. Go straight ahead to stay on Bahnhofsstraße. Behind the "Bahnhof Cues - das Brauhaus" you will find the bus station "Forum".
You will find toilet facilities in the district of Kues near the Old Railway Station, three more in the district of Bernkastel: at theKarlsbader Platz behind the Tourist Information Office, as well as at the Gestade, at the restaurant "Alter Moselbahnhof" and at the kiosk in front of the association's municipality. In the district of Bernkastel there is a "Volksbank/Raiffeisenbank" ATM right next to the Moselle Guest Centre building (Tourist Information). This is accessible 24 hours a day. A "Sparkasse" ATM is located near the market place in the Römerstraße. In the district Kues there is a branch of "Deutsche Bank" in Cusanusstraße, a branch of "Raiffeisenbank" in Friedrichsstraße and a branch of "Sparkasse" in Cusanusstraße.
