From the Roman town Trier, the "Moselsteig" leads you along a breathtaking rocky path, mostly directly down the slopes of the Moselle. Spectacular views accompany the first part of the tour, which then reveals magnificent forest passages. You will then hike to Bernkastel-Kues, the birthplace of the world-famous philosopher Nikolaus von Kues with its impressive historic old town with its half-timbered buildings.

We recommend arriving with the train. Trier, the oldest city of Germany which is strongly influenced by the Romans has alot to offer. A numerous of Roman buildings like the "Porta Nigra", "Kaiserthermen" (imperial baths) and the amphitheatres are definitly worth a visit.

Today you have a short trip to hike, but still you shouldn't underrate the stage. You need a good condition in order to master the ascent to the mountain of Mehring. Once you have succeded th ascent to plateau of Huxlay it will be rewarded with a health park and green meadows.

Today, a good health condition is required: The Moselsteig leads us through the "Mehring Schweiz", where we get up close and personal with the Moselle slate on a demanding route. Afterwards, quiet forest passages and wonderful Moselle views inspire before we arrive in Leiwen.

Today, "panorama television" is the order of the day. Already during the first long ascent to Zummet there are great views of Leiwen and the Moselle. But this programme is still continuing. We visit the Moselle arch of Trittenheim and travel back to the times of the Romans in Neumagen-Dhron.

Today the Moselsteig is dominated by the vine. Again and again we make contact with the extensive vineyards, which cover almost the entire slopes in this section of the Moselle. Fantastic views and a Roman acidulous fountain are among the highlights.

Today we travel back in time to the Romans and knights. In Bernkastel-Kues we can visit the first castle on the Moselle, castle ruin "Landshut". The historic market square with its medieval flair and historic timbered houses are among the highlights of today's stage.
After breakfast your "Moselsteig" tour ends. You organize your departure individually or we can organize a return transfer service (pre-booking required) to Trier for you.
