Directions
The family hike starts at the Lieserer Dammtor with a start board on the village side. Important information and the hiking map are displayed again on the board. For families with children, there are quiz cards in the flyer holder for playful knowledge transfer; if none are available, there are reserves in the tourist information centre. Small signposts with the mascot ‘Turlie’ the kestrel show you the way. The route continues over the flood protection dam past Lieser Castle, where you have to cross the main road and at the crossroads towards Maring-Noviand, the circular route takes you to the Rosenlay vineyard site in Lieser. Along a high dry stone wall, with a view of the vineyards on the right and the Moselle on the left, the route leads uphill into the vineyards. After you have climbed a few metres up the hill and looked at the various information boards, there is a first rest stop with a bench and a ‘vineyard-diverse’ selfie wall. Strengthened, the route then continues straight on towards the village of Lieser past a slate rock, which is also an important habitat in the wine-growing landscape.

At the edge of the village, a chestnut tree with seating and another information board awaits. The route continues uphill again, passing houses on the right and vineyards on the left, up to the edge of the forest. There is more information on the way. Once you have passed the small forest passage, the path leads completely through the vineyards again. The highest point has been reached. Now, on the way down, there are more information boards, greened path summits and more places to sit and enjoy the breathtaking view of the Moselle landscape. At the last board, no. 14, the children who took part in the quiz receive their answer and a small surprise. The path now leads downhill again, past the break station with the Selfi wall and the dry stone wall. At the main road, the route heads back towards Lieser Castle, crosses the main road and can finish the return journey via the flood protection dam.
