Directions
From the car park for hikers you start the hike by following the signs down to the Schäferei district. The path leads you behind the town sign on the right up into the forest. Just before the larger road you can see straight ahead, take the path on the left into the forest and follow it for about 1 kilometre. When you arrive on a tarred road, keep to the right and after about 100 metres turn left again into a forest path. After about 400 meters you can enjoy the great view into the Moselle valley at the small crossroads on a bench. Continue to the right, where after 150 meters you will find the drop-off point for the para-gliders. Above this place, which is well signposted turning right, benches and seats invite you to a nice rest.Furthermore the view into the Moselle valley is very impressive. Following the signs, passing the refuge and the shooting club house, you will reach the hiking car park "Auf`m Hahn" (also a possible starting point of this hike). Keep left there and after 100 meters take the next possibility left into the forest. This part of the forest is called Staudt. Now you go along the edge of the slope and take the way back. Following the signs, you will arrive back at the Schäferei district after about 2 km. There it is worth stopping at the winery "Philipps-Eckstein" or "Kemmer's Panorama Hotel" before you tackle the last climb through the Schanzenstraße to the hiking car park "An der Traver Ruh".Public transit
