Route information

Difficulty : hard

Hiking time : 1:00 h

Ascent : 112.12 m

Descent : 95.27 m

Start Point : Medieval market place, Bernkastel

End Point : Medieval market place, Bernkastel

Directions
A crisp ascent to Landshut Castle, which is almost unavoidable if you want to conquer the castle on foot. From the medieval market place in Bernkastel, the Burgberg-Rundweg leads you past the little sharpened house built in 1416. From there it is signposted clockwise and counterclockwise.  We recommend walking it in an anti-clockwise direction. The markings then lead you into Karlstraße, onto the Schlossweg, into the vineyards and up the narrow and very steep serpentine path to Landshut Castle. The trail continues once around the castle. The descent is via the castle entrance, the asphalt road to the Schützenhaus and the mountain spur. Then on the footpath back to the market place. The signposting is anti-clockwise because the serpentine path is better uphill than downhill.
