The 1000 inhabitants of Mülheim on the Moselle (115 m above sea level) live idyllically in the midst of vineyards, woods and meadows. Two lovely streams flow through the village located in a glacial valley. Mülheim has always been a place of trade and industry. Renowned companies are based in Mülheim, especially in the separate business park. They give jobs to about 750 people. Mülheim has a good infrastructure, which is especially convenient for tourists. There are a petrol station, supermarket, doctors, hair dressers, dentist, pharmacy, butchery, bakery, stationary shop and bank. Relax and enjoy yourself in cozy hotels, restaurants and first-class gastronomy, in the wine taverns and in private guest-houses. In addition, you should check out the spa facilities of the hotels and the three local beauty salons. Fine, lively wines come from Mülheim´s vineyards. Did you know that the classic Riesling wine from Mülheim’s biggest vineyard site “Sonnenlay” was the most popular wine on “Graf Zeppelin” airship´s historic transatlantic flights? Mülheim is great for numerous leisure activities: hikes through the woods, meadows and vineyards, water sports, fishing, jogging as well as cycling on marked cycle paths along the Moselle, through the county of Veldenz as well as Hunsrück and Eifel. At “Hotel Weißer Bär”, there are a slip way and a shipping pier, from where you can go on a cruise. A special attraction is the “Mülheimer Markt”, which takes place in the first week of August. It traces back to a market and judgement day established by the Counts in 1555. Today it is a wine festival with a large parade, market stalls and a large fairground.
