Butcher's shop Fritzen

Quality from tradition

In 1935, Nikolaus Fritzen opened the butcher's shop in the Noviand district with his wife Katharina. In 1941, Nikolaus was drafted into the war and returned from French captivity in 1945. After his sudden death in 1960, Katharina continued the business with her son Herbert.

In 1966, Herbert Fritzen and his wife Hiltrud took over the business and built it up mainly by running snack stands at the surrounding festivals. In the course of the years, the "party service" area was developed and further expanded by Hiltrud, supported by her daughter Heike, a butcher saleswoman since 1987.

In 1995, the shop was completely renovated and enlarged. A bakery department, vegetable counter and an assortment of groceries and household goods were added, so that the basic supply of the citizens of Maring-Noviand is guaranteed. In 1990, son Heino Fritzen started his butcher's apprenticeship in his parents' shop and in 1996 he graduated with a master's certificate from the butcher's school in Heidelberg.

In 2003, son Heiko took over the company, continuing the 3rd generation of the Fritzen butchery. In 2007, Herbert Fritzen passed away, leaving a big gap in the Fritzens' family business.

In 2010, the traditional business applied for the EU approval required for slaughterhouses, which was also granted without any major complaints or conversion measures.
