Evangelische Kirche Andel

The Protestant church in Andel was built between 1717 and 1719. This larger chapel is commonly referred to as the Andel Cathedral.
Although Andel is today a district of Bernkastel-Kues, it did not belong to the Catholic-influenced, Trierian Bernkastel in the old Empire, but to the County of Veldenz. As a result, the town remains part of the Lutheran-influenced Evangelical Church Community of Mülheim on the Moselle to this day.
Around 1830, approximately 170 people lived in Andel in 42 houses, including about 130 Lutherans and 40 Catholics.
During the reconstruction of the church, the tower core of the former house of worship was integrated. The former Simultaneum is now only rarely used by the Catholic community of Bernkastel-Kues.
