The boat trip down the Moselle to the former Cistercian monastery of Machern starts on the banks of the Moselle in the Bernkastel district. After just under 40 minutes, passing the famous steep slopes of the Middle Moselle, the district of Wehlen and the lock passage at the wine village of Zeltingen, the boat docks at the jetty of Machern Abbey. Here, in a magnificent 13th century complex, a brewer's menu awaits you! At Machern Abbey, they still brew their own beer, with 3 different types available to sample. Beforehand, visit the toy and icon museum on the grounds of Machern Monastery.
Back in the "International City of Vine and Wine", take the "Burg-Landshut-Express" to the ruins of Landshut Castle. The journey through the vineyards on the yellow bus to the castle, which towers high above the old town, takes around 20 minutes. Once at the top, you will be rewarded with an outstanding view over the cultural landscape of the Moselle.
