Sommerbühne 5: FRANK NIMSGERN CLASSICS / PADDY SCHMIDT
Moselle music festival meets summer stage - in the Moselauen Kues!
The Moselle Music Festival celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2025 - four decades full of music, culture and unforgettable concert experiences in one of the most beautiful cultural landscapes in Europe. From Trier to Koblenz, high-calibre sounds from classical, jazz and world music will once again be heard at extraordinary venues along the Moselle in this anniversary year. We want to celebrate this with a HIGHLIGHT at this year's Bernkastel-Kues summer stage.
8 pm: Frank Nimsgern - CLASSICS - from Bach to Nimsgern With CLASSICS, star composer Frank Nimsgern presents a fascinating new stage concept that is second to none: a rousing mash-up of the greatest musical hits of the past 50 years, skilfully interwoven with the immortal works of classical music - from Vivaldi and Bach to Beethoven. The musical experience combines modern soundscapes with timeless masterpieces and also offers a ‘best of’ the multiple award-winning Nimsgern musicals, including highlights such as Snow White, The Ring, Freischütz, Magic Flute, Paradise of Pain and spectacular Grand Shows from the Friedrichstadt-Palast Berlin. Works that have been honoured with the German Television Prize and prestigious musical awards merge in CLASSICS to create an emotional synthesis of the arts. Greats of the German musical scene such as the charismatic Aino Laos and the expressive Chris Murray shine on stage, captivating the audience with their vocal brilliance and impressive stage presence. CLASSICS is a musical firework display - powerful, moving and boundlessly creative. An evening that will delight rock and musical lovers alike.
6 pm: Paddy Schmidt The frontman of the band PADDY GOES TO HOLYHEAD, Germany's best-known Irish folk band, is not only a charismatic singer but also one of the best harmonica players on the planet. The man with the flair for Irish music and the raspy whisky voice also has a heart for the lonely and unique nature of Scandinavia. In June 2012, he rode his Harley-Davidson to the North Cape on the northern tip of Europe to celebrate his most northerly concert ever. With a diary, dismountable travel guitar and camera in his luggage, he wrote his book Far Away - Mit der Harley zum Nordkap. Today, Paddy Schmidt is also working in parallel on the development of his entertainment programme Celtic Continental Music. The folk musician became famous for his interpretation of the Celtic harmonica, which enables the player to modulate the difficult passages of the fast and triplet ornamentation of Celtic music - especially jigs and reels - using new techniques. The music of Paddy Schmidt is attributed to Irish Folk or Celtic Folk. He tours throughout Europe with over 250 performances a year, alternating between solo and with a band.
