Mülheim Cultural Circle: Mirja Klippel – Slow Coming Alive

Nordic indie folk live: Mirja Klippel touches with raw poetry, intense voice, and magical atmosphere.

The Finland-born and now Denmark-based artist Mirja Klippel has established a solid place in the alternative folk scene with her unmistakable style. Her music combines the raw beauty of Nordic landscapes with a deep, longing atmosphere. Inspired by Finnish folk, Americana, dream-pop, and indie, she creates a sound that is both delicate, intense, and touching.
With her debut album Lift Your Lion (2016), Klippel demonstrated her versatile talent as a songwriter, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. The second album Slow Coming Alive (2021) showcases a more introspective side. It is based on Finnish poems from her youth and addresses topics such as social justice musically. For this work, she received three nominations at the Danish Music Awards Roots.
Live, Mirja Klippel is accompanied by her long-time musical partner, guitarist Alex Jønsson. Together they unfold a chamber-music-like, finely tuned soundscape.
Line-up:
• Mirja Klippel – vocals, guitar, zither
• Alex Jønsson – guitar, backing vocals
