How does the vineyard get into the school?

On May 8, 2025, the Mosel Rural Development Center (DLR Mosel) invites you to a special symposium as part of the "Mosel Diversity Week 2025." Under the title "How does the vineyard get into the school?" the wine cultural landscape of the Mosel is highlighted as an exceptional learning environment for schools. But how can our students experience local biodiversity and sustainability?
The symposium conveys innovative ideas and practical examples of how to integrate the wine cultural landscape as a living learning environment into school lessons and extracurricular learning projects. "Our Mosel vineyards are not only a beautiful backdrop but also provide valuable learning opportunities to vividly convey the importance of nature and the environment to children and young people," explains Norbert Müller, head of the DLR Mosel.

What can participants expect?

• Practical lectures and workshops where participants will learn how sustainable education (BNE) can be integrated into teaching using the wine cultural landscape.
• Discussion rounds addressing the protection of biodiversity and the use of vineyards as natural learning environments.
• Successful regional projects showing how education and nature experiences can be interconnected.
• An excursion to the Green Classroom in Maring-Noviand, a model project for sustainable learning.

The goal of the symposium is to strengthen the wine cultural landscape as a valuable educational location and to promote networking between educational institutions and actors in the wine cultural landscape. The day offers numerous opportunities for in-depth exchanges on sustainable learning methods and creative projects that provide young people with a better understanding of nature and the environment.
