The Bernkastel-Kues holiday region is the home of Riesling vines for some of the finest wines in the world. The ancient Romans, who introduced the cultivation of vines in the Moselle valley more than 2000 years ago, also knew this.
Today, the winegrowers of the Middle Moselle do not only press the fruity and noble sweet Riesling wine, which once made German wine famous all over the world. They also cultivate dry Rieslings, Elbling, Rivaner, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris as well as some red wines, such as Pinot Noir or Dornfelder. Numerous wineries and winegrowers provide an insight into their daily work. Nearly all of them have rustic wine tastings - some of them in several languages - in their programme. On request, guests can help with the grape harvest and experience the fascination of wine up close.
